What Do They Do?
Action Teams will assist individuals and families in Windward Oahu (from Kahuku-Waimanalo) in applying for Emergency Rent & Utility Assistance or Rapid Rehousing Assistance available through the City and County of Honolulu and their service providers.
Action Teams will be made up of community navigators that have access to systems of support and resources to help struggling individuals and families who are at risk of eviction or need to be rapidly rehoused.
Supports include, but are not limited to:
- Application Assistance (help getting documents ready, accessing the online application, completing the form)
- Legal Help
- Mediation Services w/landlords
- Financial Counseling
- Assistance Applying for other Government Benefits
- Job Training Referral
Who Should Contact Us?
- Windward residents currently living between Kahuku (96731) and Waimanalo (96795)
- Individuals and households currently renting and at risk of eviction (behind in rent payments or struggling to keep up with payments)
- Individuals and households that have recently become houseless
Why Are We Doing This?
The Harold K.L. Castle Foundation believes a community developed, community-based approach is the most effective way to connect Windward Oahu families at risk for eviction or recently homeless with the supports and services they need.
