The Harold K.L. Castle Foundation has launched a new Matching Gifts Program, which matches the financial contributions of Foundation employees in support of nonprofit organizations in Hawaii. The program encourages Foundation employees to increase their personal philanthropic activities by enabling them to “double” their contributions to qualified nonprofits. The 1:1 matching contributions encourage, recognize, and reward the philanthropy of Foundation employees; they also advance the Foundation’s mission of Building Resources for Hawaii’s Future.
A second program, called the Dollars for Doers Program, is designed to encourage employees of the Harold K. L. Castle Foundation to volunteer their time and expertise to help Hawaii’s nonprofit organizations. The Foundation will “match” employees’ volunteer time by making a grant to the nonprofit organization based on the number of hours volunteered. For example, an organization will be eligible for a $250 grant once an employee has volunteered 25 hours or a $500 grant when an employee has volunteered 50 hours.
Each employee is eligible for a combined maximum of $2,500 in matching contributions to qualified nonprofit organizations in Hawaii. Since inception of the program in 2006, the Foundation has matched ten employee contributions totaling $3,165. Organizations supported include:
